My Cup Runneth Over
In the realm of man, we often hear the analogy of seeing the glass half full or half empty. Living in Eutaw, with my office in Northport, I often pray out loud as I drive to work. As I was doing so one morning last week, thanking the Lord for all the blessings He has poured out upon me, He suddenly revealed to me the direct connection between the humanistic analogy of seeing the glass half full or half empty and the Twenty-third Psalm, at verse 5, "my cup runneth over (KJV)."

As Christians, we do not have to live in a half full/half empty world. Our glass overflows! God's blessings are so abundant that even in the darkest or hardest of times in our lives, we can rejoice in the fact that our glass "runneth over." God does not fail us, although we often fail Him by living defeated lives. Even seeing the glass as half full is a disservice to our Lord. We should not only

recognize the fullness of His blessings on a daily basis, but be filled with joy and thanksgiving for all that He has given us. So the next time someone asks you whether you tend to see the glass half full or half empty, just tell them "Oh, my cup runneth over!" We may be facing difficulties, whether in health, finances, or personal relationships, but our cup indeed overflows.

I have a friend who has had to undergo surgery on his leg, which was not totally successful, leaving him with a very pronounced limp. Every time I see him, he says "I am blessed", and "Have a blessed day", and he means it, and he feels it. His cup overflows! Yours does, too, if you are in Christ. Rejoice in that knowledge. Rejoice in that reality.

Yours in Christ, Tom Woodard
