A Few Stray Poems

I Am Blessed

I am blessed! I am blessed!
Lord above, give me rest!
Feel like flying, like a bird,
Freedom, oh, that’s the word,
God You bless me in degree,
Man can’t measure, nor see,
Ain’t nothing gonna defeat,
I’m standing tall on my feet,
Walking happy on the street.

Oh, my soul, I want to soar,
Hollerin’ “Jesus” ever more,
Praise His name, every day,
How He’s molding this clay,
Bending and shaping His will,
Into this vessel bending still,
Making me stronger, refined,
According to His great design,
That I His purpose may carry,
Spreading grace to the warry,
While Jesus chooses to tarry;
Ready for home when He calls,
Meanwhile His love enthralls,
Giving me that perfect Joy,
As by His will I love employ.

Praise the Lord, praise Him,
He is my daily multi-vitamin,
In His strength is no defeat,
Making every day complete,
Lord have mercy, I am filled,
Fed by Word carefully tilled,
Planted in black, fertile soil,
Doing God’s light-yoke toil.
Praising my God high above,
Lighting on me like a dove,

How much more blessed
                                 can I be,
Than to dwell, dear Lord,
                              with Thee!
